Note: as of February 11, 2003 all drifters have ceased transmitting. The lone drifter to transmit all the way up to the end was drifter #6, which froze into the ice north of Bering Strait in mid December 2002.

 

 

GPS position fixes:

The lower set of plots are those as resolved by the ARGOS positioning system. The position fixes are not as accurate as the GPS positions shown in the upper plots and are only measured at the times of satellite passes, about five or six times per day. Note that drifter #15 lost its GPS signal (so it is not shown above), but we can still track it by using the ARGOS positioning.
