Buoy 39913

Launch date: 21 May 2003 at 03:06 local time. Latitude: 60° 39.84 ´N, Longitude 151° 34.50´W

This buoy looped several time before entering the middle rip. Once in the rip, it tracked north and south with the tidal current. There is an obvious error in the processing where a bad position causes the apparent position to jump west of Kalgin Island. This is being corrected. Note however that this shift in the position falls below our threshold for jumps in speed and acceleration. However, the "eyeball test" indicates that the buoy did not actually move this way. The buoys latest position is shown by the red cross. The last reported position is from 9 June 2003 at 17:00 at 60.2766°N and 152.0512°W.

As part of the data processing, the velocity and acceleration are computed. Values which exceed reasonable threshold values are deleted until all values are within acceptable limits. The below figure shows the final values.
