Buoy 39997
Launch date: 17 June 2003 at approximately 08:35 local time.
Latitude: 59° 33´N, Longitude 152° 2.00´W
This buoy was released by Dr. Scott Pegau with the Kachemak
Bay Research Reserve at the location marked by the blue "plus" sign.
It moved north and south with the tide as well as to the east into Kachemak
Bay. It moved counter-clockwise with the local circulation field and into
the central inlet where it drifted with the tidal cycle. On July 12, it appears
that the buoy was taken aboard a vessel and taken ashore. The buoy was later
recovered by Gary Jackinsky of Ninilchik. Its last location is marked by the
red "plus" sign.
